Never Feel Cold Again
Konia Equestrian, never feel cold again.
Instead of running to avoid the cold, I now embrace the scenic views of Lexington and his paddock pals (literally) frolicking in the snow. Konia Equestrian is a Canadian outerwear brand that is designed by riders, for riders.
I don’t know about you, but I’m always cold. I found myself riding in 100 layers, ski jackets, parkas, and a slew of different brands that couldn’t keep up with my winter barn routine or obstructed my mobility. For example, going for hacks outside when it feels like -16°C, spending hours on end outside at just above freezing, and getting slobber and (lots) of mud on myself. Konia Equestrian’s Anya Jacket was the answer to all my weather related problems. This jacket is apart of their Midweight collection, meaning that it is designed to withstand temperatures as low as -20°C/-4°F, so you’ll be staying toasty throughout your whole ride!
I put this jacket up to the test one early morning in mid-November. I was only wearing a t-shirt underneath the jacket in -13°C while I performed my morning barn routine. The Anya Jacket kept me so warm while I was riding in the arena, I was sweating underneath it! Lexington and I decided to go for a hack after our flatwork, but when we got to the top of the field I thought my ears were going to fall off, it was so cold. This being said, never have I ever worn a jacket that shielded my body form the freezing gusts of wind so well. Lexington and I only lasted ten minutes, but not once did I shiver due to my torso and arms being cold. After wearing this jacket for about three weeks now, in multiple climate conditions that Canada decided to put us through. I can confidently say that it is one of the warmest jackets I’ve worn (both in the city and at the barn).
Let’s dive into the design of the Anya Jacket. This jacket has beautiful contrast suede accents and elbow patches, that are machine washable. In fact, this whole jacket can be washed in the comfort of your own home! The hardware details and features built into this jacket are incredible, not to mention the flattering silhouette it gives. The Midweight and Heavyweight jackets share standard features. My favourite feature is the back cellphone pocket. I never realized how much your phone can obstruct your form over fences when placed in your front jacket pockets. Another favourite of mine is the fact that there is no velcro throughout this whole jacket! I find velcro catches and can pull threads out of place, ultimately ruining some of my favourite technical shirts, sweaters, and scarves. Lastly, if you’re like me and slide down the side of your horse when dismounting. This jacket has a zipper cover with no show snaps, so say goodbye to zipper scuffs on your saddle! This jacket holds so many crucial features for riders, the list is endless!
